technical training consultant

Working in the training team at MDS is a varied role; you end up doing everything, from training design, eLearning, TNA, one to one coaching and, of course, training delivery. It can take you all over the place; I’ve been to deliver training to our offshore team in Sri Lanka and to customer sites in America. I think all in all I’ve been overseas 4 or 5 times this year,

MDS has customers and offices over the world.
We mainly deliver training on the MDS product range, so you’d need to get a good working knowledge of all the products, they’re grouped into 2 sections our billing and CRM system, CMP, and a group of analytic products including the Lavastorm Analytic Platform and BillAnalyzer.

I’ve mainly been working on designing training for the analytics products lately. I’ve been creating some short screen capture videos using Adobe Captivate that should eventually go on the website and designing a class room Methodology course for one of my colleagues based in the Boston office.

One of our other team members is designing some bespoke CMP training, for one of our new customers; he is working as part of the implementation project team. They are based over in Dublin, so he’s spending quite a bit time over there at the moment.

Collectively the training team is a font of knowledge for our products, but sometimes we still need to get in touch and work with product experts, which sometimes can be a challenge, because everyone tends to be busy, and some of them are in Australia.

Apart from product training, we also try and cater for training needs internally; we deliver regular inductions and training on any of the software systems that the company uses. Where there are training needs that we can’t meet, the training manager has close links with several training suppliers to cover all the more technical and accredited courses.

I think a role in the MDS training team would suit someone with a logical and curious mind, who doesn’t mind a challenge.
